CIVIL MARRIAGE CEREMONY
Marriage ceremonies can be performed during regular business hours at
any of our San Marcos, Chula Vista or downtown offices
in a private decorated ceremony room. Kearny Mesa offers services on Saturday only. At the downtown location, ceremonies
may be performed outside on scenic County grounds overlooking San Diego Bay. If you do
not have a witness, we will provide one. The fee for a civil marriage ceremony is $50.00. Appointments
are not available for civil marriage ceremonies. However, ceremonies may be performed
the same day you obtain your marriage license and are performed on a first-come, first-serve basis.
We do take appointments for marriage license process.
Due to the popularity of our Kearny Mesa Office Saturday service, please anticipate a wait when you arrive unless you have an appointment.
We recommend visiting any of our local locations mid-week and early in the day.

A DVD of your wedding is available at all locations. A DVD provides
a lasting memory of this special day and costs $10.00.
Marriage or anniversary keepsakes are also available. These 8 X 10 certificates
are perfect for framing and make ideal gifts. The keepsake has the name
of the married couple, place of birth, day and date of the ceremony and
the official County seal. Each keepsake certificate is personally signed by Gregory
J. Smith, San Diego County Assessor/Recorder/Clerk, also the Commissioner
of Civil Marriages. These keepsakes are available only for those couples
that are married in the County of San Diego and cost $5.00.
We also offer a framed digital photograph for $10 to commemorate this special occasion, or you may purchase a Polaroid photograph for $5.
A portion of the proceeds are given to the Polinsky Children's Center.
The San Diego County Deputy Marriage Commissioner for a Day offers a unique opportunity to have a special friend or family
member of your choice perform your ceremony. This person can be commissioned
for the day of your wedding by completing a short form
for a nominal fee of $50.00. Instructions for the completion of the license,
sample vows and the commission will be sent upon receipt. Please call
